10 tips for nursing teeth

Good oral hygiene and regular dental visits help keep your teeth and gums healthy.

Here are some tips for you to take care of your teeth.

  • Brush at least twice a day. The perfect time that you should brush your teeth is after a big meal. Choose a small toothbrush for better access to the posterior teeth. Soft hair is better on the gums.
  • Use fluoride toothpaste. Fluoride helps to harden the enamel and reduce the risk of tooth decay.
  • Brush thoroughly. You should take two to three mins to brush your teeth.
  • Floss your teeth every day. Use a slow and gentle sawing action.
  • Limit acidic drinks such as soft drinks, hot drinks and juices. Food acid softens dental materials, dissolves minerals in the enamel, causing cavities (caries). In severe cases, the teeth may "eat" into the gums.
  • Limit sugary foods. Bacteria in plaque turn sugar into acid.
  • Protect your teeth from injury. Wear a mouth guard or a full face helmet while exercising.
  • Try to save a broken tooth. If possible, put your teeth back in place while you are seeking immediate dental advice. If this is not possible, wrap the teeth in plastic or put them in milk and seek dental advice immediately.
  • Do not use teeth to do anything other than chewing food. If you use them to break nuts, remove the caps or tear open the package, you may break or even break your teeth.
  • Check the dentist regularly. If you have dental problems such as toothache or bleeding gums, you should also go to the dentist.
